Remodelling of the Loiola Crossing

BIM project management

The project was carried out for the Department of Projects and Works of the Donostia-San Sebastián City Council.

INGECID signed a contract with the Donostia-San Sebastián City Council. This project is located within the Department of Projects and Works of the City Council and arises from the need for the remodelling of the Loiola crossing in the city of San Sebastian (Spain).

The work carried out by INGECID consisted of BIM management throughout the project and the creation of the initial BIM and As-built model of the project. From this, it was possible to carry out interference analysis between the projected and existing elements, as well as the possibility of creating computer graphics and videos. The final objective of the execution of this BIM model was to anticipate possible problems that could arise during the construction phase and to have a 3D model available for the execution.

During the construction phase, an updated monitoring model was carried out to support each site certification (5D) and a final As-built model of the construction site.

All the project management has been carried out through the Common Data Environment (CDE) Vircore, which has been used to share and approve the project documentation and the BIM models in the software.

The new crossing has a length of 510 metres and 3 lanes of traffic and its construction has significantly improved the quality of life of its neighbours, highlighting as key points the generation of large green areas and the construction of a public lift that connects the new crossing of Loiola with Alto de los Robles.

At the end of the work, the Councillor for Ecology, Marisol Garmendia, pointed out that “this work has turned around a district of San Sebastian such as Loiola, which can now enjoy a level of quality in its public spaces of the highest order“. If you want to read the full article, click here.
