Presentation by the Technical Director of INGECID at the IVth SPANISH WIND CONGRESS

2 July 2018

The 4th Spanish Wind Energy Congress, promoted by the Spanish Wind Energy Association (AEE), was held in Madrid on 26th and 27th June. Jokin Rico (Technical Director of INGECID) participated as a speaker at this congress, presenting the latest work carried out for the design of high-rise towers.

This congress is the sector’s annual event, which brings together the leaders of the national and international energy sector, as well as politicians and different institutions. This year it was attended by nearly 300 professionals and a broad agenda of high-level political conferences (26th June) and technical conferences (27th June).

On a technical level, practical cases were analysed on the challenges and solutions that most affect our industry through various round tables and conferences: “The increase in height and new tower concepts”; “The evolution of blades”; “Wind power in isolated systems”; “Operation with high renewable penetration”; “Compliance with the new grid codes” and “Offshore wind: the pending subject of the Spanish wind power sector”.

Jokin Rico, Technical Director of INGECID, was a speaker at this annual event to comment on new developments with regard to “Increasing heights and new tower concepts”. In particular, he focused on the “POLICONO” tower, a design that allows reaching greater heights with competitive costs. Thanks to its geometry, which allows the use of climbing formwork, high construction rates are achieved while guaranteeing the safety and reliability of the system.
