In-situ concrete tower Policono

Complete engineering and construction management during the construction of the prototype at the Alaiz Experimental Wind Farm.

The Policono in-situ concrete tower has been developed to offer a competitive solution for high-rise wind turbines.

The POLICONO in-situ concrete tower has been developed to offer a competitive solution for high-rise wind turbines. Its geometry is given by its construction process, which requires the use of climbing formwork to reach construction rates of 6 m in height per day. The use of this technology, widely used in the construction sector, ensures a safe and efficient procedure that allows reaching any height and can be used for any size of wind turbine. The design solves the dynamic problems of the technologies and offers significant advantages in terms of cost, logistics and maintenance.

The project covers from conceptual design and patent, to detailed design (including optimized foundations), certification of the design with GL, design of the construction process and certification with GL, construction management and quality control. The prototype built at the Alaiz Experimental Park (Navarra) was used to test the technology, representing a worldwide milestone of technological demonstration.
