Fatigue strength assessment of offshore jacket joints using finite element analysis

Study of the potential consequences of ship strikes on offshore wind turbine jacket foundations

Offshore structures are subject to cyclic loading which can lead to failure of the structure. The phenomenon that causes failure when the cyclic loading acts for a sufficient time, i.e. for a certain number of cycles, is called fatigue.

In this project, a detailed fatigue analysis is performed to verify that the weld design ensures an adequate fatigue life of the joint. This analysis is carried out in accordance with DNVGL-RP-C203 – Fatigue Design of Offshore Steel Structures.
