Concrete barrier for vehicle impact absorption
Study to minimise the accident rate in road accidents
INGECID researches and develops a new product, consisting of a concrete barrier, capable of minimising the accident rate in traffic accidents thanks to the absorption of energy involved in the impact through the deformation of the structural system. This type of safety protection aims to reduce the severity of the impact (ASI index) and improve the level of containment. The geometrical and mechanical characteristics of the assembly mean that its behaviour in the event of an impact is less damaging than that of current systems.
To this end, INGECID has received a grant co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund through the FEDER Operational Programme 2014-2020 of Cantabria through the INNOVA 2016 grant line.
