Design of horizontal spent nuclear fuel storage system
The objective of the project is the development of a system for the storage of spent nuclear fuel by means of horizontal storage modules. The project includes the design of an optimized ventilation system, structural calculations to reduce the amount of reinforcement, the design of materials with high radiological shielding capacities and their laboratory testing and the definition of an optimum construction process allowing time and costs to be minimized.
To this end, all the departments of INGECID work in a coordinated manner in the development of this project, providing a technical and competitive solution to the market.
