Probabilistic model evaluation of jacket foundations for offshore wind turbines

Offshore structures are designed to withstand loads and this capacity must exist during all the service life. Therefore, potential failure modes need to be studied and occurrence of failure must be prevented. However, there are large uncertainties associated with offshore structures. Uncertainties in structures are considered through probabilistic modelling assessments.

In this project, a probabilistic modelling assessment of the fatigue life of offshore jacket joints is conducted. Thus, the probability of failure of the joint due to fatigue over time is calculated and inspections are defined to meet the maximum acceptable failure probability. This analysis is developed in accordance with DNVGL-RP-C210 – Probabilistic methods for planning of inspection for fatigue cracks in offshore structures.
